How much does it cost to hire a helicopter?

Helicopter charter starts from £2,500+VAT for a short hop. Price varies depending on the routing, flight duration, availability of aircraft, size of aircraft and destination landing fees. The average cost for a helicopter charter is £5,000+VAT. Here are a few examples of how the price can change with flight duration:

– A 30-min flight over London from our Elstree base would cost £2,600 + VAT

– London to Leeds, one way, 1hr 20mins, would cost £6,600 + VAT

– Manchester to Leeds, one way, 25mins, would cost £3,300 + VAT

– Norwich to London, one way, 45mins, would cost £5,300 + VAT

Overnight stays will increase the cost, but we will endeavour to make the trip as cost efficient as possible, often leaving the aircraft and crew with you ready for the return flight, saving valuable flight time.

Luggage

Can I take luggage on a helicopter?

Yes, you can take luggage, but we recommend using soft-sided bags rather than hard-shell suitcases due to space limitations.

Can I take golf clubs on a helicopter?

Yes, you can take golf clubs, but they must be packed in small golf pencil bags to fit onboard safely.

Can I take guns on a helicopter for game shooting?

Yes, firearms can be carried, provided they are unloaded and securely stored in appropriate cases, and you have the necessary licences.

Can I take pets on a helicopter?

Do I need to depart from an airport?

No, you don’t have to depart from an airport. Helicopters can take off and land at approved locations such as private helipads, fields, hotels or event venues, provided they meet safety requirements.

Can I depart from and arrive at my house?

Yes, departures from and arrivals at private properties are possible, provided there’s sufficient space and the site meets safety and regulatory standards. We can assess the location for you.

Flight operations and restrictions

How many people can a helicopter carry?

The number of passengers depends on the type of helicopter. Typically, helicopters can accommodate between four and seven passengers.

Do helicopters fly at night?

Yes, night journeys are possible, provided the landing site has appropriate lighting and complies with aviation safety regulations. We can provide lighting subject to additional cost.

Can a helicopter fly in bad weather?

Safety is our top priority. If weather conditions are unsuitable for flying, the flight may be delayed, rescheduled or cancelled (and typically refunded). We will keep you informed and work with you to find the best alternative.
